TKO TIPS

My Picks for tonight's boxing April 19th 2014

Anthony Crolla v John Murray- Anthony Crolla to win

This is a genuine 50/50 and that's what us, the fight fans love. You can make a case for both fighters coming out on top but I'm going for Crolla to win this Manchester derby. I think Crolla will be too sharp and skillful and will have a good game plan created by Murray's ex trainer and Crolla's current trainer Joe Gallagher and will execute it well. I do rate John Murray and his relentless style but Crolla's been the more active fighter and although the bookies have Murray the favorite I'm picking Crolla.

Callum Smith v Francois Bastient- Callum Smith Rounds 4-6

This is Callum Smiths first fight back in 6 months after being out injured. He's using this for a warm up fight to get some rounds under his belt before his fight against Tobias Webb next month. Although the highly regarded prospect is looking to get some rounds I feel he'll still look for a stoppage in the second half of the 6 round fight.

Scott Quigg v Tshifhiwa Munyai- Scott Quigg Points

The man from Bury defends his World title tonight against Munyai who's a late change of opponent. The South African has a 27 fight record, 24 wins, 2 defeats and 1 draw but he's never stopped and he will come to win and could be a tricky fight for Quigg but can see him winning a points decision.

Bernard Hopkins v Beibut Shumenov - Bernard Hopkins Points

The 49 year old legend takes on Shumenov in a defense of his light-heavyweight world titles and if he wins this he will be the oldest unified world champion ever. Although people are saying Shumenov is a dangerous fight I still believe Hopkins experience and ring craft will get him through and he'll win on the judges scorecard.

Shawn Porter v PaulieMalinaggi - PaulieMalinaggi Points

This isn't an easy one to call but I really fancy PaulieMalinaggi to go against the odds and beat Porter to win the IBF title tonight. It seems like Malinaggi's been round forever but he seems to be in the form of his life at the moment. PaulieMalinaggi always seems to raise his game in the big fights like he did against Broner which I believe he won but didn't get the decision, he's got quality boxing skills and I can see him out boxing Porter. Porter may be the champion and coming off a win against Devon Alexander but I can see Pauli Malinaggi out boxing him on the back foot.

£5.00 bet on the selections above pays £583.73 @Paddy Power

Please note that these are my personal picks and I'm not suggesting that they're going to win you a fortune or to put your mortgage on them but something for the people that fancy a flutter on the boxing.

My Picks for tonight April 12th 2014 (Live on Boxnation)

Frank Buglioni v Sergey Khomitsky - Frank Buglioni to win by KO

Out of all of the picks tonight this is the hardest of them all. Frank Buglioni is improving all the time and has won his last 3 fights by way of stoppage but tonight he's in with an experienced fighter who's had 40 fights. 28 wins, 10 losses and 2 draws and has only been stopped on 2 occasions, one of them by Gennady Golovkin who's one of the biggest punchers on the planet. Khomitsky hasn't been stopped since 2010 and went to points against Martin Murray last time out but if you look at his record the majority fights have been at middleweight. Buglioni looked the best yet in his last fight and seems to be learning all the time and can see him breaking this guy down and stopping him late on but I wouldn't be shocked if Buglioni gets taken the full 10 for the first time in his career.

Bradley Skeete v Tobia Giuseppe Loriga- Bradley Skeete to win on points

The current English welterweight title has got his biggest test to date tonight against Tobia Giuseppe who's record boasts 32 fights, 27 wins, 3 defeats and 2 draws and has boxed Julio Cesar Chavez Jr despite losing. I can see Bradley Skeete winning a close points decision in a fight where he's going to learn a lot. I like Skeete but he's not the biggest puncher despite being skillful with only 4 KO's in 15 fights.

Tony Conquest v Ovil McKenzie- Tony Conquest to win on points

Tonight sees Tony Conquest defend his Commonwealth title for the first time against Ovil McKenzie. I've been impressed with Conquests boxing skills in his last two outings. He showed great heart and fighting spirit along with impressive boxing skills when he climbed off the canvas twice to out point Wadi Camacho and then he totally out classed Australian Daniel Ammann. Conquest can't over look McKenzie who's going to come to win and fancies his chances of stopping Conquest from what he said on this weeks ringside and he can bang given the chance but can see Conquest boxing smart and winning on points.

Manny Pacquiao v Timothy Bradley- Manny Pacquiao to win

This is a long awaited rematch. Last time out the majority of us, the boxing fans believed that Manny Pacquiao was the judges against Bradley and this is his time to put the record straight. But on the other hand it's Bradley's chance to show the world of boxing that it wasn't a fluke. But coming off an impressive display against Brandon Rios last time out. In my eyes Pacquiao needs to win this otherwise there's not much chance of him getting the big fights and would scrap any chance of a fight with pound for pound king Mayweather (although this fight's lost it's appeal and should've happened 4/5 years ago).

£5.00 on the selections above pays £55.00

My Picks for tonights boxing March 29th 2014 (Live on Boxnation)

Frankie Gavin v Sacky Shikukutu- Frankie Gavin on points 2/1

Frankie Gavin is unquestionably one of Britain's most talented boxers being the only Brit to win gold medal at the world championships and current British and Commonwealth champion as a professional and an unbeaten record of 18 wins, 12 coming by way of KO. Tonight he's facing Sacky Shikukutu from Namibia who's record reads 18 wins, 12 KO's, 2 defeats and 1 draw. I don't believe Shikukutu has faced anyone as skillful as Gavin in his career but African boxers always seem to be durable and cagey fighters but can see Frankie Gavin out boxing him and winning comfortably on points. Frankie Gavin may break him down and stop him late on but I see value in the 2/1 for him to win on points going against the bookies who have Gavin 1/3 to win by KO/TKO.

Jon Lewis Dickinson v Neil Dawson- Jon Lewis Dickinson to win 1/4

Tonight Jon Lewis Dickinson will defend his Lonsdale belt against Neil Dawson for the final time and he wins tonight he will win the belt outright. This is a massive domestic fight for the cruiserweight division. I can't see Jon Lewis Dickinson not taking this opportunity in front on his fans being a local fighter and moving on to bigger and better things. Neil Dawson is a good fighter who's got wins over Commonwealth champion Tony Conquest and Chris Keane but then again he's lost to Matty Askin who Dickinson beat, but styles make fights. I see Dickinson winning this on points but played it safe and gone with him just to win but if I had to choose a way of victory it would be a points win for Dickinson.

Stuart Hall v Martin Ward- Stuart Hall to win 4/11

This may not be the biggest world title fight that's taken place but I can assure you it means the world to the north east as it's been nearly 25 years since there's been big time boxing in Newcastle. There was questions raised when Stuart Hall got the shot at the IBF belt just before Christmas last year but you can't slag off Hall for taking the shot, every boxer dreams of winning a world title and when the chance comes no fighter will turn it down whether the fans believe they're worthy of the chance or not. He got in there and he showed champion spirit and won the belt. Would you rather they made Vusi Malinga faced a foreign fighter? It's good for British boxing that Hall got the chance and won it as it's given the Bantamweights in the country to set up massive domestic fights in the future for the IBF crown with fighters such as Haskins, McDonell and Merseyside favorite Paul Butler who's recently joint the mix.
The reason for my selection is I believe that Hall's not going to give up his title at the first hurdle after fighting so hard to win it. Martin Ward is a good boxer but I just think Hall will have too much for him and will show champion class. I couldn't choose a method on this fight either as it's a hard fight to call.

My picks for tonights boxing Saturday 15th March 2014( Live on Sky Sports & Boxnation)

Rocky Fielding v Charles Adamu- Rocky Fielding Rounds 1-6 4/5

I believe Rocky Fielding is one of the most underrated fighters in the super-middleweight division and expect him to put on an exciting display in front on his home fans tonight despite losing his Commonwealth title on the scales yesterday coming in at 12 stone 6 which is practically light heavyweight . His last two outings have finished in the first round. Although Adamu has only one defeat via TKO which came to George Groves back in 2010 he hasn't fought anyone of this class since. Adamu has fought the likes of Carl Froch and Isaac Chilemba in the past but how much does he have left?I believe Fielding will be too big and powerful for Adamu.

Tony Bellew v Valery Brudov- Tony Bellew KO 1/3

This is Tony Bellew's first fight at cruiserweight and can see him going out and making a statement against Brudov. I believe Bellew will be a lot stronger at this weight as he was a heavyweight in the amateurs and will carry more natural power. I can see Bellew stopping him in the second half of the fight.

Deontay Wilder v Malik Scott- Deontay Wilder Rounds 1-6 4/5

It's simple, Wilder doesn't go 6 rounds. Malik Scott came unstuck against Chisora although the stoppage can be questioned I just think a big puncher like Wilder will take Malik Scott out quicker and more convincingly than Chisora.

Danny Garcia v Mauricio Herrera- Danny Garcia KO 7/4

I personally think Garcia is the real deal. With a record of 27-0 16 KO's and names like Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Erik Morales and Lucas Matthysse on his record it shows he's up there with the best. The bookmakers have it that Garcia will win on points. I believe this is because Herrera has never been stopped and Garcia has gone the distance in his last 2 outings but let's be honest Herrera isn't Lucas Matthysse or Zab Judah is he? I believe Garcia the younger, fresher fighter will break him down and stop him for the first time.

Last nights winning 4 fold on our first TKO TIPS post.

My picks from tonights boxing 8th March 2014 (Live on Boxnation)

Kevin Satchell v Isaac Quaye- Kevin Satchell Decision 4/6

Kevin Satchell has only managed 2 KO's in his 11 wins and is facing Isaac Quaye from Ghana who's never been stopped despite losing on 4 occasions.

Paul Butler v Oreste Bernabe- Paul Butler KO or TKO 2/5

Although Bernebe's record suggests he's never been stopped. If you look closely at his record every time he's stepped up he's lost. I don't believe he's been in with anyone like Butler and he's never been 12 rounds whereas Butler has on 2 occasions. I believe Butler will break him down in front of his home crowd and stop him in the second half of the fight.

Leo Santa Cruz v Cristian Mijares- Leo Santa Cruz Decision 7/4

Although the bookies believe that Leo Santa Cruz will stop Cristian Mijares I think that the experienced Mijares will go the distance as he's only been stopped once in 58 fights and has always mixed at a high level.

Saul Canelo Alvarez v Alfredo Angulo- Canelo by KO or TKO 4/6

Coming off a defeat to the pound for pound best Mayweather I believe that Canelo is going to make a statement against Angulo in this all Mexican fight.  Angulo's style is made for Canelo and can see him stopping him between rounds 7-10.
